Fitzroy to Gladstone Pipeline TMR Intersections Alton Downs

The Project

The overall project comprises of 117 km of pipeline located in Central Queensland, running through the Gladstone and Rockhampton Regions. The Project is proposed to connect the Lower Fitzroy River, upstream of the Fitzroy Barrage, to Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB)’s network at Yarwun. It is intended to allow the extraction of water from an intake on the Fitzroy River to a new treatment plant near Rockhampton and then transfer via pipeline to Gladstone and on to existing and new industrial customers. Schwarz scope required upgrades to multiple roads and the construction of a new intersection into the water treatment plant site off Ridgelands Road.

  • Rehab road reserve, topsoiling and re- seeding.

Ridgeland’s Rd – Water Treatment Plant Intersection:

  • Construction of pavement shoulder widenings on both sides of roadway to allow a turning lane into and out of new WTP site in both directions.
  • Bulk clearing of established vegetation/ large trees 9m off of edge of roadway, full 300m width of worksite under variation.

  • Temporary access paths to detour private access residents outside the limits of worksite.
  • Installation of 2 x 8.5m solar lighting poles including concrete footings and pits.
  • PMB Bitumen re-spray of existing seal
  • PMB Bitumen spray-seal of new pavement widening including developing the seal design with subcontractor
  • Collaboration with client and designers as part of their ‘design and construct’ contract.
