Rockhampton Regional Council required the construction of a capping system over the Residual Bales Area at Lakes Creek Landfill to cover waste using an engineered capping system. Schwarz was engaged to undertake wet-hire civil works completing the capping on an existing landfill cell for the principal contractor. Works included placing 4300t of imported fill in a 300mm layer over the existing area. An additional 6500t of topsoil was then placed in a 300mm layer over the whole pad including batters. Repair works on internal roads were also completed as an addition to the scope.
